I'm sure by now we're all kinda tired of the apocalyptic - dystopian - teenagers finding themselves trilogies, but this one is the best I've read! I really enjoyed all three books. They are violent (a bit shocking at times), they are heart warming, they are full of action and of course deception, loyalty, righteousness and fighting for independence. At it's core, its a bunch of teens trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be in a chaotic and unjust world.
The story takes place in a universe, somewhat similar to ours, mostly on the planet Mars and will have you begging for your own wolf-skin cloak, some gravity boots, and I don't know what else by the end. These books are great for your kiddos or their friends - if you allowed the Hunger Games (due to violence) - and as a gift to yourself or to your nerdy siblings. Best for your nerdy siblings, that way you can say weird things to each other like:
"Are you prime?"
and not get weird looks.
Personally, I downloaded them as audiobooks and listened to them over the last few weeks while commuting to and from work. I got a little bored with my usual podcasts, so it was a nice change of pace. And I've been trying to get my brother and sister to read them (my nerdy siblings), but no word yet on their thoughts, so I can safely say they haven't yet started. The good news about it is my sister's birthday is right around the corner...
